Why quest?
The Vision Quest provides an opportunity to experience yourself and the natural world without distraction or filter. For thousands of years, cultures from around the world have conducted Vision Quests in various forms as rites of passage and pathways for healing, prayer and insight. The Vision Quest continues after thousands of generation simply because... It Works!!
The Lineage:
The Quest that we are sharing was passed down from a Lipan Apache elder and shaman- Stalking Wolf. Stalking Wolf traveled the width and breadth of North and South America for 63 years seeking that which was common to all people. The Vision Quest that we offer is a distillation of the practices of the varied cultures that Stalking Wolf encountered, it is not a Lipan Apache ceremony, nor is it tied to any particular culture or creed. During the Quest program you will not be asked to accept or subscribe to any particular belief system; Questers have come from a variety of religious, spiritual and secular backgrounds. Indeed, the beauty and power of the Quest is in its simplicity: you spend a set amount of time in a set place!
We trained in Vision Quest protection and facilitation with Malcolm Ringwalt, an intuitive healer, teacher and founder of Earth-Heart Institute of Vision and Healing. Malcolm began running Vision Quests in 1985.
Our Vision Quest program:
August 25 - September 1 2018
Rosendale, NY
The entire quest program is an eight-day commitment. You will spend four days and four nights in solitude with nature, fasting from all distractions. We will prepare you before hand and afterwards provide you tools and techniques to understand your vision and to integrate it into your daily life. All ages are welcome and wilderness experience is not required. We provide all meals and water. A gear list will be sent to you after you sign up. If you have any questions or want to discuss any medical or dietary concerns, please get in touch with us!
Suggested donation: $550.
We do not believe in charging for ceremony. Nor do we believe in burdening our families financially in order to make this offering. We seek to cover our expenses for food, fuel, materials and insurance. Any funds that remain after expenses will be donated to Wild Earth, a non-profit organization offering nature-based programs in the Hudson Valley. https://wildearth.org/
If $550 is the difference between you Questing or not, please get in touch with us for possible volunteer opportunities or bartering. A monetary deposit of some amount is necessary to hold your place in the program.
